Stability Operations, FM 3-7

Be the first kid on your block to read FM 3-7, Stability Operations. It sets the kinetic battlefield on par with stability operations.

Next year, I will go to the Command and General staff College and learn to say that last sentence like this:

This new doctrine will operationalize the elevation of stability operations to a co-equal status with the traditional cornerstones of military combat power – the offense and defense. It also codifies the comprehensive approach to stability operations, providing the underpinnings for working together with our joint, interagency, intergovernmental, nongovernmental, and private sector partners. In doctrinal terms, FM 3-07 is a leap ahead; it is already driving change across the Army, but it’s also influencing changes across the other departments and agencies of the US Government, aid organizations, and our allies.

I stole that from a CGSC Blog, and the post was written by Lieutenant General Caldwell, who, as noted at the milblog conference, gets it.
