Eureka! I've figured out how to solve this problem too...
Effective immediately, the Pensions of elected officials, past, present, and future, will be set at $1 over the social security rate. They will also be given Medicare for their health insurance, and Will not be allowed to work for the mount of time equal to one-half the time served in office. That way, the bigger the problem and the longer they had to fix it (and didn't) the longer they will suffer for their ineptitude.
